Zachary Caterer is a PhD student in Biological Engineering and an MS student in Computer Science at the University of Colorado Boulder. He is also a trainee in the Interdisciplinary Quantitative Biology (IQ Biology) Program at the BioFrontiers Institute. Zachary earned his undergraduate degrees in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, as well as Applied Mathematics and Statistics, from the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire.

His research focuses on developing accessible, open-source software tools for large-scale epidemiological cohort data analysis. He is particularly interested in creating robust and equitable polygenic risk scores for genetically diverse populations and disease outcomes.

Outside of research, Zachary enjoys hiking, skiing, and camping in the Colorado wilderness. He’s also a recent enthusiast of the card game Magic: The Gathering.
